The leader of Bulgaria‘s opposition Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Ahmet Dogan, escaped an apparent assassination attempt Saturday while addressing a party congress in Sofia, local media reported.
The attack took place in the National Palace of Culture (Sofia, Bulgaria), where a party congress was held for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party. The attacker, a 25-year-old man, also had two knives with him. The man had a criminal record for theft and assault.
The motives of the attacker are still unknown but seem to have a political background as there are elections later this year.
Although his security detail failed miserably, you have to give them some credit for giving him an ass whopping at the end.
