These are telling. The last one is heartbreaking.

But why did “My Church” build a mall with an advertisement for Macy’s?

If you havent read the bible completley you should not critizice it, also do not Generalize Religions Most of the pictures are from Catholics , Also most people bash on religions for not doing something when they themselves have done nothing either.

Government is a religion to many and has out spent all the churches combined “eradicating” poverty. The poor will always be with you and that goes double for a nation that encourages it..

Oh fun fact guys: Jesus didn’t like religion either. Actually, that was the whole reason he came was that people were no longer bound by it. While I don’t care for religion either as an institution, I would still like to clear up what Jesus and the new testament actually said.

While there are people who use religion for their own personal gain, this is not a reflection on the belief in God, but pride, greed, and mockery. Those TV evangelist are more like opportunist than anything.

Starting with Bill Gates. Good works do not, in fact, make you ‘saved’. (At least for Christians). It’s only a personal relationship with Jesus that does it, not giving millions to the poor.

Speaking of the poor. Google any charity to Africa or any 3rd world country. 95% of the time or more these charities are of Christian origin. My dad is in Guatamala as we speak building a feeding center. Helping the poor is pretty much was that Jesus guy was all about.

Also, most Christians do not believe the cosmos is only 6,000 years old. In fact, we believe the opposite, that the cosmos is infinite. I still don’t know why people think Christans think the world is only 6,000yr old.

On Evolution: I promise I can disprove evolution to you in under five minutes. People who actually study thermal dynamics and string theory laugh at the concept of evolution. Evolution has turned into a institution and not a truth seeking theory. If you want me to fully explain everything, feel free to write me at [email protected]. I’ll give you a hint: Theory of evolution disobeys: 1st law of Thermo Dynamics and 2nd law of Biogenesis.

On old testamate rules: Most the the rules in the old testamate like, “no shelfish, or no mixed wovens” are of Jewish law. These laws of the Nomadic tribes of Jews actually had meaning to them at the time. Such as pigs having diseases and were not fit to eat at the time. Christians (or anyone) , are not bound by the laws of the Jews 3000 years ago.

On Catholics: When you have people actually living by Jesus’s teachings, you have people like Mother Teresa/John Paul II. On the other hand, you have people that take advantage of others under the muse of Catholicism. Evil will find a way in to any institution. Catholicism in the higher levels has been hijacked by people who do not have your best interest in mind.

On slavery: The bible was never for or against slavery. It understood that on earth people are going to have to go through some real shit. That’s just the nature of being in a cruel (more like indifferent) world. But whoever you were (either king or slave) you could know God.

On protesting divorce: Jesus never said divorce was wrong…But the key thing here is that ‘divorce’ is not a special interest group of people that lack morality.

Lastly, let’s wrap this up with two types of atheists: The honest one and the dishonest one. A dishonest atheist doesn’t believe in God and doesn’t want to find out. The honest one actually ask this question, search it, then see where it leads them.

So I should focus on talking to a dead guy, not working toward the betterment of humanity. Got it.

Most of the criticisms here are your classic “Have you stopped beating your wife?” type arguments.
    To answer just a few.
There are several posts about why did a church spent a bunch of money on some structure and not spend that money on the poor. Do you ask the same question at the football stadium? And what business is it of yours to dictate how people want to spend their money. You sound more controlling than any religion.
There are several posts about Bill Gates giving money away and then him not going to heaven. Are you proposing that entry into heaven be based on how much money you give? Or that you should be able to buy your way into heaven?
Last, but not least, the Bible never approved of slavery based on skin color. That was man’s idea, not God’s. The Bible is in fact the first book to ever give slaves any rights at all. Slavery as practiced in America was completely unbiblical.
Nothing here shook my faith. Feel free to try again.

Yes, according to the Bible, you cannot get to Heaven by doing good works. Someone could devote his life to helping people, give away all his money, etc, and go to Hell, while another person could be a serial murderer and rapist, accept Christ on his deathbed, and go to Heaven. God isn’t fair. The only way to get to Heaven is to accept God’s free gift. So … exactly why are you complaining? You don’t have to work hard, you don’t have to do anything. You just have to accept a gift. If a billionaire was standing on the street corner handing out checks for $10,000 to anyone who would say “aardvark”, would you complain that this was totally unfair to you because you didn’t feel like saying “aardvark”? Or would you go and say “aardvark” and get the money? God isn’t fair. He is amazingly generous. He will give you far more than you deserve if you just ask for it.

RE Christians spending millions on entertainment or on a monument: So, do you give every dime that you earn that you do not absolutely need to survive to help the poor, and thus you live on bread and water and live in a cardboard box under a bridge? No? Then you are a hypocrite, condemning others for doing the exact same thing that you do yourself. And surely you don’t claim that atheists do better at this than Christians. How many charities are supported by the voluntary contributions of atheists? I can easily name many run by the contributions of Christians, from the big ones like the Salvation Army, Save the Children, Samaritan’s Purse, etc, down to all the little soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Let’s agree not to count organizations whose purpose is to spread a philosophy and not provide material aid, so for example we’ll exclude most televangelists and likewise organizations that just advocate atheism. Surveys routinely show that Christians give far more to charity than atheists. Even if you exclude explicitly Christian organizations, Christians give more to secular charities than atheists do.

RE “that is a thousand years after the Sumerians invented glue”. Can’t say I’ve heard that particular claim before, but I’ve heard plenty of claims of Egyptian, Babylonian, etc, history going back further than would be consistent with the Bible. But in general, historians and archaeologists routinely debate the dates of events in ancient times, and Bible scholars debate Biblical chronology. To say that the youngest ages estimated by Bible scholars conflict with the oldest ages estimated by scholars of Egyptian or Sumerian history … so what? If 10% of physicists support a theory that conflicts with a theory held by 10% of astronomers, I don’t therefore conclude that either physics or astronomy is a bunch of hokum. I just conclude that those two particular theories can’t both be true.

100 million people dead because atheist ideologies like communism tried to impose atheism on people, that’s the other side of the coin you’re conveniently ignoring. And I find it misterious how every year there are more and more starving somalian children, I think people starved near to death don’t have enough energy to conceive and gestate a child. For all your talk of how good atheism is, almost every western country is in decadence, supporting the murder of children in their mother’s womb, erasing his past because it was christian, legalizing perversions like homosexuality and even pedofilia, while strong confident people, who have tried for 1400 years to wipe out non-muslims, Christianity and Europe, are in ascendance, even invading former Christian countries and perpetrating terrorist attacks on their soil.
