I’m tired of seeing this ridiculous commercial on TV every other hour. Can anyone explain to me what kind of coverage this woman was getting for $50/month before Obamacare kicked in??? This woman is pushing nearly 50 years old and still on one of those bare minimum plans that college students get to cover only emergencies. No wonder she’s in poor health. SMH

Can anyone explain to me what kind of coverage this woman was getting for $50/month before Obamacare kicked in???

Can anyone explain to me what business it is of the govt’s getting involved in healthcare in the first-place? Don’t worry about what plan someone does or does not have—–it’s none of your business in the first place!

    • BigBadBootyMacDaddy

Because we want a nation full of healthy and intelligent people contributing to society.

      • ND52

And what business is it of your’s what healthcare plan I have @BigBadBootyMacDaddy:disqus? What gives the govt the right to tell me I have to buy something?

        • BigBadBootyMacDaddy

Taxes, car insurance etc there are some basic things you need to pay for to be a part of this society.

          • ND52

No one is forced to buy car insurance @BigBadBootyMacDaddy:disqus. WTH are you talking about?

And taxes are based on your income level. The majority of people considered part of “the working poor” get full refunds of the federal taxes taken out of their paychecks every year.

            • KnowledgeDropper

Every state I’ve lived in has a minimum liability coverage statute that enforces people to maintain a certain amount of auto insurance. You are severely misinformed

              • ND52

Only if I intend to operate a privately-owned vehicle on public roads.

                Otherwise………nope

                • KnowledgeDropper

If you aren’t operating on public roads then have fun!!! No one will be there to tell you that you need insurance. PUBLIC roads that tax dollars pay for are a different story

            • Ted Cruise

If you are going to drive, you have to have insurance.

              • ND52

                @ted_cruise:disqus

But no one is required to purchase an automobile in the first place nor drive it on public roads

      • Bob Frapples

You do realize that most of the people that didn’t have healthcare prior to Obamacare did little to nothing to take care of themselves to begin with? Also, a good amount of them weren’t “contributing to society” and were already on public assistance?

Handing shit out for free doesn’t equate to a “healthy and intelligent” society.

        • ND52

          @leatherHampsterButt:disqus

You do realize that most of the people that didn’t have healthcare prior to Obamacare did little to nothing to take care of themselves to begin with?

And who told you this—–Rush Limbaugh?

Handing shit out for free doesn’t equate to a “healthy and intelligent” society.

Only the very poor receive healthcare for free. Everyone else will pay out the nose or else face fines.

          • KnowledgeDropper

Then pay the fine…it’s only $75

            • ND52

              Lol! You pay it.

              • KnowledgeDropper

I don’t have to because I have health care coverage. You’re going to end up paying the fine anyway because it will be added onto your tax return that you file (unless you don’t file one, and then you have bigger problems than a $75 fine)

                • ND52

And not everyone has the $$$ to go out and pay for govt mandated health insurance. Why would anyone even trust a system that can’t put together a simple enrollment website????

                  • KnowledgeDropper

That’s why there’s the subsidy, for those that are not financially able to afford coverage on their own. If you cannot afford the coverage with the subsidy included then you might need to evaluate your finances and determine what you value more than being able to afford health care

                    • ND52

Again with the, “we know what’s better for you than you do” propaganda.

The only people who’ll be getting “subsidies” for anything will be the poor—-working class folks you’re just SOL.

              • Ted Cruise

We’ve already been paying it. You not having healthcare doesn’t equal you shit out of luck at the hospital, it equals everyone else picking up the tab and being gouged for it. You being required to keep insurance cuts down that burden for everyone else. Besides, all this healthcare bill does is keep insurance companies from gouging you for pre-existing conditions and or even general coverage by offering alternatives to their plan.

                • ND52

Gee that’s funny seeing as how most people have see their rates skyrocket and/or seen their policies canceled all together.

I’ll decide what I need and when—-not you or the govt @ted_cruise:disqus

                  • Concerned Citizen

I work in a pharmacy in a conservative part of the US. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard people blame the evil OBAMACARE!!!!1111!!!! for every little thing.

So your insurance wants you to take the generic and won’t pay for the brand name. “It’s because of OBAMACARE, isn’t it?” No, it’s because brand costs 10x as much and has the same active ingredient, and you haven’t even tried it!

What, your coverage expired? It must be because of OBAMACARE. Pretty soon nobody will have any insurance because that of that OBAMA. No, it’s because you didn’t bother filling up the paperwork the state has sent you to continue your medicaid coverage.

Oh, your copay went up from $1.10 to $1.15? It must be OBAMACARE. What next! Pretty soon decent hardworking people will have to shell out $1.25! What horror.

I just shut my mouth and shrug, but I want to scream at them that Obamacare has nothing to do with it.

People don’t even educate themselves on what it is, they just want to hate it.

It depresses me because I come from a country where, if you don’t have money, you don’t get care. You just die. People don’t know what it can be like. It is NOT a hardship to get generic, to fill up paperwork, to pay $1 or whatever.

You know what’s a hardship? An old man coming in every 2 to 3 days to buy his blood pressure pills, a couple of TABLETS at a time, because that’s all the cash he has. Where I come from we don’t have any OBAMACARE or anything like it at all. Cash everything. You want free market? Here ya go.

                    God damn.

                    • ND52

It’s too bad that “pharmacy” you work at doesn’t let you take your work home with you…………….cause you need to be on meds. Troll central must be desperate to hire the likes of you.

          • Scott_McMan

Actually ND, I witnessed it as a stockboy in a rural American supermarket. I lived in a town where those on assistance made it a way of life, generation after generation. Having as many kids as possible to get more money. They would then feed the kids generic mac & cheese while the adults ate steak, traded food stamps so they could by cigarettes and alcohol and pretty much lived like kings. All the while spending almost zero time in a doctor’s office.

I saw it daily, so don’t feed me that Rush Limbaugh crap. You’re government doesn’t care about you man! Get that thru your head! They love to get us fighting each other and taking sides so they can continue to screw us to a wall. Are you really defending and administration that gave us a criminal IRS and an NSA that listens in on your conversations?

It’s no wonder we’re losing. People defend things in the face of absurdity.

This country used to function quite well without the gov sticking their noses in. You think this is so great? Wait for the other shoe to drop. Obamacare is just the tip of the iceberg.

            • ND52

So what makes you think that your experience is universal? Having served in the military, I’ve known plenty of people who worked their way out of poverty. Assume much?

I saw it daily, so don’t feed me that Rush Limbaugh crap.

No, you saw a tiny fraction of the american population on a daily basis. Maybe you just come from a town full of white trash, I dunno.

As for the rest of your post, you’re doing a ton of assumption—-just like a Rush Limbaugh does! Lol!

    • DocViewer

The Constitution. The commerce clause and the power to tax.

      • ND52

        Nope. Try again @DocViewer:disqus!

        • desizombi

you might as well put your head back in the sand.

          • ND52

Lol! Okay @desizombi:disqus Keep trolling away why your right are flushed down the toilet one by one.

    • Scott_McMan

Check out pre-nazi Germany and you’ll see how America is following in their footsteps.

Socialism allows big government to do as it wishes. The sad part is, the people elected this type of government into office.

      • Ted Cruise

        Godwins Law.

We are not even close to socialism and miles from nazi Germany. Get a real argument or stfu.

    • RebelRouser

So I went for my routine blood tests. Before with my anthem insurance plan I paid about $250 out of my pocket for blood tests after what insurance covered for me. This time it only cost me $13 out of pocket with my new anthem plan through obamacare. I will say I don’t care for the guy as a president and it took a month for them to get me my coverage but this is saving me a lot of money so far. Anyone else have experience with a big change in out of pocket expenses with the newhealthcare plans?

      • ND52

Good for you but I don’t put stock into anything an anonymous poster puts online. Bottom line: fining me for not buying a consumer product is unconstitutional as hell.

  • TellTheTruth

Well whether you agree with the healthcare law or not, either side shouldn’t have to result to lying about it to prove their point should they? I mean, if the bill is so horrible and such a terrible thing then simply tell the truth and present actual facts about it to show how bad it is… oh wait then you would have a weak argument.

    • ND52

Please tell me what gives the govt the right to tell me I have to buy something?

      • KnowledgeDropper

They don’t…but Congress does have the right to tax you, which is essentially what the fine for not have health care coverage is

      • desizombi

You have to buy car insurance. its the law. Will that example suffice?

        • ND52

How many times do you govt lovers have to be told this @desizombi:disqus—–you only are required to carry car insurance if you have a car and you drive said car on public roads. Here in Oklahoma—-as in many other farming states—-there are people who operate vehicles that never touch a public road.

How many people live in liberal havens such as NYC and Chicago that don’t even bother to own a car in the first place?

          • desizombi

As you just pointed out if someone wants to use public access roads their car needs to cover the liability of their use of the public roads. If you get in an accident on public roads and your dont have insurance, then at minimum you get penalized in some way.

Simple cognitive reasoning will show that health insurance is the same thing. if you want to use type of public health services like the emergency room, we tax payers shouldnt have to foot the bill to your irresponsibility. If you plan on living in on your farm without ever stepping into the public square then your augment of why you dont need health insurance makes perfect sense.

            • ND52

              @desizombi:disqus

People already had insurance insurance you fucking moron! Now it’s become unaffordable under obamacare!

              • desizombi

Not sure what youre talking about. But at least now I know YOU will have to pay your way instead of leeching off society. So I’m content.

          • desizombi

    Co-pay.

If you look Americans for Prosperity made this ad. They are the Kock brothers who are Republican and are some of the wealthiest and powerful men in America.

    • BigBadBootyMacDaddy

and lets be honest, they couldn’t give 2 fucks about you or me

      • Scott_McMan

Kind of like the Socialistic, constitution slamming regime that’s running the country now.

        • Ted Cruise

          Youre an idiot.

      • mcphisto32

I totally agree with you. They even tried to have their own political candidates run for office an running false accusations against the opponents.

  • canada

Yeah Ok, buying health insurance from a private corporation is socialism. The rest of the developed world has public health insurance. Your old system was great if you were rich and horrible if you were poor. Now it’s great for the rich and mediocre for the poor. You have a long way to go. Single-payer is on the horizon. Time to catch up to the UK, Canada, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden……etc etc etc.

  • ND52

Got anything else beside personal attacks little man? Thought not. Typical liberal—-resorting to Ad Hominem right off the bat!

But oh look: @leatherHampsterButt:disqus has a study from a notoriously liberal university that supports the president! Oh My!

    • Bob Frapples

Seriously, are you retarded? At what point was I following/promoting a “liberal” agenda? Did you even LOOK at the study? If you weren’t a fucking moron you could tell I’m 10000% against Obamacare and against Obama. Fucking idiot. Move on.

      • ND52

        Lol! @leatherHampsterButt:disqus

        • Bob Frapples

Looks like someone got lonely. Blow up doll spring a leak?

  • Veek

So pro-Obama bloggers call this ad lies because they don’t believe it. But ignore the fraudulent premise of the law promising, “If you like your doctor, like your plan, you can keep it.” The average cost will be reduced $2,500″. Where’s your outrage about that? How about administration’s mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” (on page 34,552 of the Register). All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their “grandfather status” and become illegal. So you’re hysterical about an ad you don’t believe but the lies of the government don’t merit mention…
