I randomly drove by a Supreme store in LA yesterday and there was a huge line outsde the store with people camping out like it was black fucking friday and shit. I come to find out that they were waiting in line for this Nike Air Foamposite, quite possibly one of the ugliest shoes I’ve had the pleasure of laying me eyes upon. Apparently muthafuckers all over the world were waiting for this shit shoe. Can anyone in the know, enlighten the rest of us as to why anyone would want to spend any amount of time waiting for an ugly shoe like this?

I wonder how many of these negroes are behind in their child support or are not paying for their kids altogether… SMH!

The distraction, the attainment of something that is “valued,” that will double in price overnight, the consumerism, is not just a minority thing. Its a capitalist thing that we all experience. People should already know, instinctively, that waiting in line for useless shit is a waste of your time. Creating demand means driving up buzz for something in limited supply blah blah blah i sort of understand basic economics.

All the BS aside, “rare” overpriced Nikes are still cool? The market isnt totally over saturated yet? When does this get played out? Maybe it doesnt get played out bc nowadays mindlessness and conformity is running rampant in the streets. Before the internet made us one giant community there were pockets of unique culture, trends, fashion, music whatever and it took time to spread throughout the system. By the time they were onto it in Nebraska we were onto something else but nowadays Nebraska doesnt have to come here to see what people are wearing, you can sell the Brooklyn Brand anywhere, everybody is/can rock manly frank and oak beards for under 50 bucks…the kicks are still in demand bc a lot of our urban styles and what not are still being co-opted by the flyover states and the world for that matter. Its instant sharing, instant consumption, instant conformity. Why discriminate the shame when everyone is guilty of it?

People still line up to buy shoes in this day and age?

Unfortunately Yes! The line for Jordans is 2x’s worse. You would think Jesus himself was in the sneaker store signing autographs.

Limited supply makes them harder to get, thus the line. It’s either stand in line and pay $250 or buy them from resellers who are already charging $1000.

I’ve never understood the sneaker culture, but I do understand marketing and how this will effect my holdings in Nike. =)

This reminds me of a time when I was watching a reality show about a shop that customized high end cars (for rappers, athletes and such), anyways, in this episode they followed the owner to a tailor that was doing his custom…wait for it…baseball jerseys, for some ridiculous ammount of money, and the guy doesn’t even wear them fitted or anything, he looks like he grabbed them off the rack at some outlet shop. I facepalmed so hard I almost fractured my skull.

The shop was like an east coast version of west coast customs, for customers with money but no taste, in the business of ruining perfectly good luxury cars. Can’t remember the name though.

As a Ex-sneakerhead it is to have just to have. The rich have bently/Ferrari/etc. the urbanite has kicks. Also if the urbanite is smart enough, they should buy multiple sizes and colors. Also ask for empty boxes. All to be sold on the net to gullible bitches.
