“Why American Workers Pay Twice as Much in Taxes as Wealthy Investors”
First let me state that I hate the income tax. A person’s labor should never be taxed. If you earn $100, you should take home $100. Tax use, not labor.
That being said, the first example is pure bullshit. The heir inherited $300,000 of already taxed income. Everything I work for, pay taxes for and save… if I want to pass that on to my children that should be my prerogative. The gov’t has no business with that transaction.
There’s a reason the gov’t forces your employer to remove payroll taxes before paying you… because EVERYONE would either try to figure out how to pay less than what the gov’t wants or just not pay anything at all. Taxation is theft!

The last paragraph of the article is really the root of the problem. Jealousy.

“Yes, many of these lucky heirs and heiresses go to work anyway, or contribute in other ways.”
So they’re actually paying more than their “fair share”.
“… Still, it’s hard to argue that productive members of society, people like our ER doctor, should pay twice as much in taxes as people who sit around playing video games.”
And there lies the jealousy. The writer’s pissed because his/her mommy or daddy weren’t successful enough to leave them a trust fund so they lash out. Not every heir/heiress sits around playing video games. Just like not every person receiving welfare is a lazy, parasite. Both sides like to use rare, specific examples to try and generalize an issue to make it seem more nefarious than it is.

Everyone is paying MORE than their “fair share”.
