Why Having the Right Friends is Extremely Important
(photo: @wildlittlethingsphoto)
When I was 10, I discovered The Three Musketeers: a swashbuckling tale about four inseparable friends living by the motto “all for one, one for all.” The book became an instant favorite – but not because of the wine, women, song or adventure.
What I actually enjoyed most was the camaraderie between the main characters. My family had just moved and I was really lonely; the idea of having loyal friends inspired me. I read the book and fantasized about having people to share my own adventures with.

The Importance of Being on Time
“Punctuality strengthens and showcases your integrity as it reflects your ability to fulfill promises. When you commit to meeting someone at a specific time, it becomes a pledge. Failing to arrive at the agreed time, such as saying 8:00 but showing up at 8:15, implies a breach of that promise. Being punctual conveys to others that you are a person of your word.
High Performers Are Successful As a Result of Consistent Action, Not Intense Effort.
(photo: @opeleye)
After a decade of setting goals every year and never achieving them, here’s what finally clicked:
High performers are successful as a result of consistent action, not intense effort.
This single realization led me to a framework for building habits that has changed my life.
Working from home last year made me realize that at 27, I had no good habits and zero self-discipline.
I was going to bed after 3am and sleeping past noon.
I wasn’t working out consistently.
I was browsing Reddit and watching Netflix for up to 10 hours a day.
I wasn’t doing any of the work needed to build my business…
I hated myself. The more promises I broke, the more worthless I felt, and the louder the voice in my head became:
Why can’t I fix this?
Why am I so weak?
This is how my dreams die.
Life Advice From Healthy And Happy 80-Year-Olds
Some of us may have some anxiety or fear about aging into our older decades.
In my line of work as a medical doctor, I meet many folks who are in their 70s and 80s. All have varying levels of health and functioning. A few “exceptional” ones that stand out to me are happy, healthy, and highly functioning.
I started asking these individuals and couples for their “secrets” of aging well. These were their most common advice:

Productive vs Busy
“Hey, how are you?”
“Busy.”
Ever had that conversation? Yeah, me too.
Some of us wear “busy” like a badge of honor, but this stems from misguided priorities. We think that being “busy” means we’re getting things done, living up to our potential, and on our way to success. This isn’t true. Your aim isn’t to be busy. Your aim is to be productive.
The Warrior Sees the Opportunity in the Challenge; The Coward Sees the Curse.
In life, there are those who solve problems and those who complain. They both face the same situation, but only one of them will discover a solution. Only one will embrace the challenge, while the other resigns to being a victim of the circumstances they both confront.

Comfort Is Killing Us
“Before anything great is really achieved, your comfort zone must be disturbed.” ~Ray Lewis
Comfort is killing us.
We live in a world where the slightest inconveniences can be resolved with the tap of a button or banished with the quick swipe of a credit card – endless entertainment, same-day shipping, meal delivery, and abundant access to sugary foods, hard-hitting drugs, and porn provide us with a never-ending source of unearned dopamine.
Kaizen – The Japanese Approach To Achieving Your Biggest Goals
(photo: @lordmaui)
In Japanese culture there exists the practice of Kaizen, which includes the idea of the ’one-minute principle’ for self-improvement. At the heart of this method is the idea that a person should practice doing something for a single minute, every day at the same time. Clearly, it shouldn’t be any trouble for absolutely anyone — even the laziest person — to carry out a given task for such a small amount of time. This is extremely important because anyone can do it for just one minute a day. In the western culture, the majority will think that this technique is ineffective and many are doubtful because they believe that people can only achieve success through pouring in enormous effort and time.
