May 27, 2011 | No Comments » | Topics: Movies |

steven seagal

Who doesn’t love a good Steven Seagal fight scene? Sure he gets progressively older, fatter and slower in each subsequent movie but that’s beside the point. It’s all about his dedication to precision and accuracy and his focus on saving energy for more pressing matters… like being able to scarf down the burrito in his trailer with quickness and ease and perfecting his patented front face kick. You can’t say no to a Steven Seagal fight scene, much like you can’t say no to a Van Damme fight scene. So just enjoy the damn thing already.

They Live In Its Entirety Because It’s Freaking Awesome….That’s Why

May 13, 2011 | No Comments » | Topics: Movies |

they live

If you have not seen They Live yet, you are truly missing out on an awesome piece of American cinema. Where to begin? Yes, it is goofy. Yes the production value is very low. Yes the action is standard. The guns never empty. The fights are poorly choreographed at times. But that, my friends, is not the point.

This film was an attack on the Regan era. An attack on the rampant consumerism of the 80’s. But open your mind. Saying that it’s just an attack on the 80’s is merely shutting your eyes. Telling yourself that things have gotten better. Sorry to disapoint you, but they haven’t.

Rowdy Roddy Piper puts on some sunglasses. The world changes. Billboards now say Obey or Sleep. Or Marry and Reproduce. Magazines no longer have articles or advertisements. They are blank white pages with said phrases upon them. Money now are white pieces of paper that say This is Your God. Boy oh boy are they right.

So watch They Live. Grab some beer and score some corn. Enjoy the cheese. Enjoy the great one-liners. But also pay attention to the lines that sum up the truth. Remember the point of the film. Then go outside. Re-enter the corporate world outside your door.

You won’t need special glasses to see the truth.

May 6, 2011 | No Comments » | Topics: Movies |

This one goes out to all the people out there who are searching for the truth of life, existence and the universe…

THE SPIRIT MOLECULE weaves an account of Dr. Rick Strassman’s groundbreaking DMT research through a multifaceted approach to this intriguing hallucinogen found in the human brain and hundreds of plants, including the sacred Amazonian brew, ayahuasca. Utilizing interviews with a variety of experts to explain their thoughts and experiences with DMT, and ayahuasca, within their respective fields, and discussions with Strassman’s research volunteers, brings to life the awesome effects of this compound, and introduces us to far-reaching theories regarding its role in human consciousness.

Several themes explored include possible roles for endogenous DMT, its theoretical role in near-death and birth experiences, alien-abduction experiences, and spiritual states, both within Eastern concepts of enlightenment and Western ideas regarding prophecy, and the uncanny similarities in Biblical prophetic texts describing DMT-like experiences. Our expert contributors offer a comprehensive collection of information, opinions, and speculation about indigenous use of DMT, the history and future of psychedelics within the research community, and within the larger social matrix, and current DMT research. All this, to help us understand the nature of the DMT experience, and its role in human culture and evolution.

The subtle stimulating combination of science, spirituality, anthropology, sociology, and philosophy within the film’s approach sheds light on an array of ideas that could considerably alter the way humans understand the universe and their relationship to it.

american drug war

American Drug War: The Last White Hope was my selection on Netflix last night as I was preparing to fall asleep with the aid of some television background noise. 5 minutes into the movie while my eyelids were getting heavier and heavier, I couldn’t totally resign to first stages of sleep as my ears were collecting information and insights that was totally resonating with me. 2 hours later and wide awake, my whole perspective on drugs, the war on drugs, prison, war, America and the people running the show were totally shifted. I’m posting the entire documentary below. It’s 2 hours long and is a considerable investment in time, considering we live in an era of instant gratification, were 30 second videos with quick payoffs rule our landscapes, however if you want your mind blown, perspectives changed and your paradigms shifted, this documentary will certainly do that job. Happy viewing.

If You Want To Be Compelled For An Hour, You Definitely Need To Check Out This Documentary

green rush

I’ll be honest with you guys, I don’t smoke weed. It makes me paranoid as fcuk and 5 minutes into it I’m ready for bed. However that doesn’t stop me from supporting the legalization of pot and from wanting the resources used in criminalizing marijuana directed towards better use. Anyways, I found this insanely interesting documentary on Netflix and subsequently Hulu, which I generously posted below. It’s a compelling look at the lives of some not-so-ordinary farmers, The Green Rush is a chronicle of the trials and tribulations of a unique group of marijuana farmers in Northern California over one growing seasons. Put aside the Facebook, the X-box, the reruns of South Park and give this documentary a shot. It’s definitely worth an hour of your time.
