Mexico Decriminalizing Possession Of Drugs

Mexico’s Senate approved a bill on Tuesday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of narcotics for personal use, in order to free resources to fight violent drug cartels. According to Reuters:
The bill, proposed by conservative President Felipe Calderon, would make it legal to carry up to 5 grams (0.18 ounces) of marijuana, 500 milligrams (0.018 ounces) of cocaine and tiny quantities of other drugs such as heroin and methamphetamines.
The bill, which needs to be approved by the lower house, also allows Mexican states to convict small-time drug dealers, no longer making it a federal crime to peddle drugs. Drug dealers are rarely convicted in Mexico as federal courts are saturated with bigger cases and local judges cannot interfere.
Mexico has a senate? Huh. …Anyways….WOO! VIVA EL MEXICO!!
4 Year Old Overdoses On Cocaine

A 4-year-old is in critical condition after overdosing on cocaine Saturday in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Capt. William Tyler said investigators do not yet know how the boy got the drug.
“We have spoken to both parents. Neither has been able to provide any plausible explanation on how the child got cocaine,” Tyler said.
Police were notified about the boy after his parents brought him unconscious to Beloit Memorial Hospital late Saturday afternoon and tests showed a “fairly high” toxicity level for cocaine, Tyler said. The child was later transferred to a children’s hospital in Milwaukee where he remained Monday.
Tyler said Child Protective Services removed a 5-year-old child from the home where the 4-year-old fell ill.
What a tragic story. The kid should have knew his limits.
