You don’t even have to do the thing; Just show up
… And then you can totally go home.
This hit me in a huge way just recently!
Suppose it’s going for a run every day, or practicing piano, or working on some new project. If you can just show up for your commitment and do that every day for a week, that’s a win.
Are you getting anything done? Of course not. Except you are though! You’re training your entire being to show up for this one thing every day. You’re laying down the foundation that you can build off of.
This is long-term stuff. This is how you win in the long-run. This is how you establish habits that last forever. This is how you teach yourself consistency. This is you building your castle one stone at a time.
So try that!
If it’s playing the piano; sit down at your instrument for 5 minutes every day, and do that for 2-3 weeks. You can play as much or as little piano as you want, as long as you do the 5 minutes.
If it’s going for a run, you can put on your running clothes and just step outside.
If it’s working on that project, then sit down at your laptop or whatever.
From THERE you can add some more difficulty. Let it be enough! And let all of this take as long as it needs to take.
