Ted Bundy with Carol Bartholomew as he helped with the dishes after a birthday party, 1975
Carol Bartholomew is one of the friends he made when he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1974. She was not one of his victims.
Bartholomew described Bundy as a handsome and polite guy, saying: “I told my parents I was disappointed that he didn’t ask me out because I thought he would be a fun date.”
By the time he moved to Utah, Bundy had already murdered at least nine known victims in Washington. During his time in Utah, he would go on to murder at least five known victims, plus three more unidentified victims within the state, according to his last tally with FBI Agent William Hagmeier the evening before his execution.
It was also in Utah that he would attempt to kidnap and probably murder Carol DaRonch, who survived and identified Bundy in a lineup in 1975 leading to his trial in 1976, and also later testified against Bundy at his trial in Florida.
