Have you ever felt as if you’re not progressing? As if it’s impossible to catch up to be where you want to be?
Or you know you’re moving forward, but not as fast as you expect?
“By the age of XX, I should have/be ______“
Then if that doesn’t happen, we beat ourselves up.
We drown ourselves in misery.
We wallow in sorrow and label ourselves as “failure”, where in fact, we were the ones who set an unrealistic deadline in the first place.
Let’s say it’s not unrealistic. But maybe during the time you were making plans things were easy, the goal you set seemed within reach.
Then as days went by, problems arose. Life sucked. Things went south.
And you failed to take these in consideration when you were goal-setting. It’s not like you’ve got a clairvoyance ability.
Who knew shit would happened? Right? No one.
But why did you not adjust the deadline accordingly?
Why are you torturing yourself, telling you’re incapable, that you’re not good enough?
If you haven’t reached your ultimate goals at the age of XX, so what?
Can you not just have another one?
Why are you in such a hurry?
Relax. Enjoy the journey.
Would you rather get there immediately but all burnt out?
Or arrive a li’l late but feel fulfilled?
Your choice.
PS: I wrote this for myself. I thought maybe somebody needs this, too, as much as I need it
