Etihad First Class Lounge at Heathrow’s Terminal 4
They asked me when I wanted my massage. I wasn’t expecting a massage but still replied “now”. Wasn’t a terrible massage for an airport lounge actually.
Etihad’s A380 First Class cabin is so big they call it an Apartment. The seat is enormous and there’s a bench seat which folds out into a BED.
Oh and there was champagne. A lot of it.
That’s the bench that folds out into a bed. Across the walkway you can see the other Apartment, whose doors are shut.
And yes, there’s a lounge onboard if you get tired of sitting by yourself in your apartment.
The lounge has a nice selection of boozes (beeze?) available
This bathroom is bigger than the one in my house.
Ah, let’s look at some food. A prawn appetizer perhaps?
Then a perfectly cooked medium rare steak
AND THEN A DESSERT SAMPLER?!
And then the bed, for when the inevitable food coma hit.
There’s a shower onboard, so you can be all fancy looking when you land.
When landing in Abu Dhabi, the St. Regis isn’t a terrible choice, so long as you don’t mind extremely massive everything and one of the most ridiculously luxurious lobbies I’ve ever seen.
From that massive lobby you walk into this area so you can be all boring and check in.
The rooms aren’t bad. Corner suite came with great views of the Corniche
And a chandelier
The sitting room had a couple of couches and whatnot with the ever-present Bowl of Random Fruit
Qatar Airways has the most absolutely ridiculous airport lounge I’ve ever seen, the Al Safwa First Class lounge
Yes, this is the lounge, not the airport terminal
The great news is they serve Krug champagne in the lounge
Oh, they serve a pretty good steak too.
Qatar Airways A380 First Class is beautiful and wonderfully designed. Every entryway, seat, and part of the cabin is just wonderful, it’s luxuriously designed without being too gaudy.
First Class seat (there are only 8 seats)
And there’s the seat behind me. Very comfortable, but I didn’t end up sitting in the seat for most of the flight.
Dinner started with caviar
Then some sort of chicken dish where they dumped 16.2% of the world’s spices into the sauce.
The bar is just behind Business Class and was full of people for the duration of the flight.
The decoration was very nice, although I felt bad for the people sitting in coach on the other side of the curtain, since it was an overnight flight and we were pretty loud.
Not a bad bottle of champagne (we went through at least 5)
Yet another bathroom that’s nicer than the one in my house
Cathay Pacific’s The Pier First Class Lounge is epic and wonderful, but it’s completely different from any airline lounge I’ve ever seen. It’s rich and luxurious but in almost a 1970’s sort of way.
The Dining Room was a mid-modern almost smokers loungey sort of environment with great tarmac views. Oh and champagne.
The seat is huge and massively comfortable. Combined with Cathay’s great service you can’t go wrong.
And of course I needed to have caviar again.
And how about that well-cooked steak!
I finished the trip with a great breakfast aboard Cathay Pacific before boarding a connecting flight back home on American Airlines. Hope you enjoyed this trip, be sure to check out more trips and whatnot on andystravelblog.com! (Oh, and I used miles, not money, to book this trip, but booking the exact flights I took would’ve cost just over $28,000, absolutely nuts!)
