Remember Rhonda LeBeck, the resourceful and witty graduate student from the 1990 cult classic Tremors? Played by the then-up-and-coming actress Finn Carter, Rhonda was one of the heroes who faced off against the subterranean Graboids alongside Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. But after Tremors and a few other notable roles, Carter seemed to disappear from the spotlight. So, what happened to Finn Carter?
Background Info
Finn Carter was born on March 9, 1960, in Greenville, Mississippi, USA. She is the daughter of a prominent local attorney and grew up in a family of lawyers.
After graduating from high school, Carter attended the University of Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater. She later moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
In New York, Carter appeared in several off-Broadway productions and also made her screen debut in a small role in the daytime soap opera ‘As The World Turns’.
Carter played the role of Sierra Esteban Reyes and portrayed the character for 3 seasons, from 1985 to 1988, across 109 episodes.
Sierra was introduced as a young woman from a wealthy and powerful family in the fictional town of Oakdale. She was initially involved in a love triangle with two other characters, Tonio Reyes and Craig Montgomery, and her story line involved family drama, romance, and intrigue.
She then appeared in several TV movies, including “Dream Breakers” and “Monster”, before landing her breakthrough role in the 1990 horror-comedy film “Tremors”.
Tremors
Carter played the role of Rhonda LeBeck, a seismologist who becomes involved in the fight against giant underground worm-like creatures that are attacking the residents of a small desert town.
Rhonda is initially hired by two of the town’s residents, played by Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward, to help them determine the cause of strange seismic activity in the area. When they discover the creatures, Rhonda becomes an important part of their effort to stop the creatures from killing more people.
Carter’s portrayal of Rhonda in “Tremors” was well-received and helped to establish her as an actress. The film has since become a cult classic and remains one of her most famous roles.
Rhonda LeBeckdoes not appear in “Tremors 2: Aftershocks.” The sequel takes place in the same fictional town of Perfection, Nevada, and features the return of Kevin Bacon’s character, Valentine McKee, but most of the original cast, including Finn Carter’s character, did not reprise their roles.
However in Tremors 2, it is mentioned that Val and Rhonda got married and moved away together to start a new life. At some point, they had a daughter named Valerie who grew up to become a Graboid hunter. Burt, another character from the franchise, meets Valerie in the sixth film.
After Tremors
After the success of “Tremors”, Carter continued to act in both film and television, appearing in several notable productions such as “China Beach”, “Murder She Wrote”, and “ER”. However, she largely retired from acting in the mid-2000s and has since pursued other interests.
Finn Carter’s last credited acting role came in 2005 for the movie, Halfway Decent, co-starring with Ernie Hudson.
Where is Finn Carter Now?
In 2019 Finn Carter was arrested and appeared in a Las Vegas court, facing one count of possessing a stolen vehicle and 14 counts of possessing a credit card without the cardholder’s consent, both of which are felonies.
Carter, who used the name Elizebeth Carter in court records, told the judge that she has lived in Las Vegas for about a year and a half, but did not provide a stable address. She was released from custody with her next court appearance scheduled for October.
Since 2019, there have been no updates or news about her, and she maintains a quiet presence with no social media footprint.
We sincerly hoped that she has overcome any personal challenges and found a sense of peace and contentment in her private life and we wish her good health, happiness, and success.
