You are responsible for your problems. You are not at fault for (some of) your problems, but you are responsible for all of them.
When you decide to claim responsibility for everything that you don’t like in your life—the annoying coworker, your inability to focus, how busy you are—you give yourself the power to do something about it. I don’t care that you didn’t create these issues. Stop playing the victim card, and do something about it.
These problems will remain problems no matter whose fault they are. The blame game is a giant waste of your time and energy. The only way that you can make the problems go away is by accepting responsibility and doing something about it.
There are a few people in my life who consistently come to me with problems, but stare at me blankly when I ask what they’re doing about it. They haven’t even realized that they can do something about those problems.
It’s rare to have an issue impacting your day to day life that you are truly unable to change. Sometimes the change will take time, or effort, or patience, but it is possible. Don’t give away your power. Claim responsibility.
