I’m a little in shock and a little not surprised. He was raised in a very conservative Christian family so when things were a little awkward between us physically, I thought that was it, but he he just admitted that he finds my body (extra weight) so unattractive that he is embarrassed to be seen with me.

He loves me deeply, I do not doubt that at all, and he does take me out, introduce me to friends, etc, but he argues that the sacrifice he is making in being with me despite “how it makes him feel” should speak volumes for how much he loves me. This only makes me feel worse.

Thirty nine year old guy here. As I look around at my married friends and just the general public where I live I see a lot of people with expensive stuff. I live in a modest suburb in Upstate New York. I do OK. I make around $90,000 a year. I go to sporting events for my brothers kids. These parents all are driving $100K+ Tahoes and Escalades and Land Rovers. Multiple kids in multiple activites. All have nice clothes, expensive shoes… I see it everywhere and I don’t live in a pricey area.

Turned 40 and it just hit me… I need to build up my 401k… I have about 7k in it right now after one year at this company. I make about 60k a year and have no debt besides mortgage. I have a 3% match so if I bump it up to 10% of my salary will I be ok at age 67 or 27 more years? Should I panic or will I be sitting pretty at 67… I have been working my whole life.
