1. The best relationship advice I have heard came from an interview Michael J Fox did where he talked about how his marriage had lasted so long. He said “We give each other the benefit of the doubt”.
If your SO does something tha takes you worried, angry or sad, ask them to tell you their side of the story before you let your emotions run wild. There is probably a reasonable explanation and a good reason for how he/she acted. That will help avoid a lot of conflicts and foster trust.

I was with his brother at the time. Weird, I know, but his brother wanted me to start writing him so I did. I am a firm believer in "you can’t help who you fall in love with", I just happened to fall in love with someone who is incarcerated! That is the way I see it, at least.

Let me guess. You want me to give you some magic formula for charming the pants off of everyone you meet. You want a step-by-step guide for wooing strangers with your wit and leaving a trail of enamored new friends wherever you go.
Well, I hate to break it to you, but that’s not how it works. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to engaging with new people. Because spoiler alert: People are complex, unpredictable, and often pretty dang weird.
However, there is one method that I’ve found to be consistently effective. And it’s so mind-numbingly simple that you’ll probably want to punch me for even saying it. But here it goes:

I live in a very large city outside the US, but work as senior engineer for a reputable US-based multinational technology firm. I go outside every month. I go to a regular video games meetup and a regular community trash cleanup event, trying to talk to everyone and catch up with their lives and asking if they want to get dinner afterwards. I exercise after-work daily. I am attentive to hygeine and skincare, get my hair cut on a regular schedule, wear contacts lenses, wear clean clothes. I have created profiles on multiple dating apps, but at a fit 5’9” 140 lbs, I have never once received a like.
