I’m currently seeing a woman about once or twice a week, and there’s something that’s starting to bother me. She never offers to pay for anything.
Whenever we go out and the bill comes, she just seems to expect me to cover it every single time. She doesn’t even make the gesture of offering to split the bill or pick up the check.
The kinder you are, the weaker you appear in the eyes of others. And honestly, I think they’re right.
Under capitalism, looking out for yourself comes before everything else. The people we admire most are the ones who put their own happiness, wealth, and success first and actually achieved it. Celebrities, billionaires, athletes. These are our heroes because they went after what they wanted and got it.
I’m 21 years old, and I feel like I’m ugly as a pig.
I was born with a birth defect that causes facial asymmetry and makes my speech a little wobbly. Most days, it doesn’t bother me too much. I get by. I have my puppy, I work different jobs here and there, and I’m very close with my family.
But then I go out into the world, and everything changes.
My daughter (21) lives with her boyfriend (21) against my and my husband’s wishes. We get along great though and respect she is old enough to decide where she wants to live and who she wants to live with, so there is no weirdness or awkwardness.
The problem is that this boyfriend is the only guy she’s ever dated. Ever. She went away to college for her freshman year and I tried to convince her it would be in her best interest to break up and live her best college life. I wanted her to have fun, date people, go to parties, etc.
I’m a 26 year old guy, and I’ve been dating my girlfriend, who is 24, for about two and a half years. Things have been great between us for the most part, but there’s one big problem. She really wants to get married, and while I’m open to the idea, I’m terrified that marrying her will drag me into debt and depression.
When I met my girlfriend, she wasn’t working, and two and a half years later, she still isn’t. We live together, and I pay for absolutely everything. Rent, dates, her car payment, my car payment, her phone bill, clothes, and pretty much anything else she needs. I’ve tried helping her find a job, but she just doesn’t seem interested.
My wife (35F) and I (37M) have been married for 12 years, and we have three kids together.
For years, I’ve had this nagging feeling that our middle child might not be mine. Our oldest and youngest look just like me, but our middle son looks completely different. My wife has shown me pictures of her grandfather, who admittedly looks a lot like our son, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
After five years of putting myself out there and getting nowhere, I’ve finally stopped trying to date. I went all in—I approached women respectfully, tried to be thoughtful and self-aware, and forced myself to treat each rejection as something impersonal, just part of the process. But after more than a hundred rejections, the “don’t take it personally” mantra just stopped working. The frustration started eating away at me, and eventually, the pain turned into self-hate.
I have a coworker with two kids who is constantly struggling financially. I feel bad for her, so I’ve gotten into the habit of paying for her breakfast and lunch almost every day. I’d say I cover her meals about 95% of the time.
She also regularly asks to borrow money, usually $20 to $50 at a time. The most I’ve ever lent her was $250.
He was my coworker. I know him at work for years. It is unlikely he take money and run away. He ask me a loan to scale up his business, promised to pay 15% annually.
He said there is legit loan paperwork. His work is in manufactures industry, maybe B2B. He said he his business don’t depend on number of customer available.
I don’t know. I am a salary man. I know nothing about business and investment. I haven’t ask him into the detail yet. I know nothing about this type of business.
He seem confident, but I feel the 15% is so unlikely that will come with (hidden) risk. Maybe my friend is also a victim of another scam, or he just overconfident.
Hey, how do I stop being so judgmental and thinking I’m better than other people when I know I’m really not?
I know this is an issue for me, and I’ve tried to ignore it, but I can’t. Sometimes I feel like I’m better than everyone, and other times I feel like I’m the worst person ever. I’m constantly going back and forth between feeling superior and feeling inferior, and I don’t know where it comes from. I’ve been like this since I was a kid, and I want to change before I get any older. I’m a teenager right now.
