An immediate family member last year was diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans (popcorn lungs) with an unknown cause to it. It is something that is not curable. As someone who was a daily part of my life it was hard to watch the condition progress.
His condition progressively got worse and he was transferred to a palativcare physicality a couple of weeks ago. He wasn’t happy living the way he was living and slowly dying. The doctors discussed with him the option of assisted death… something he did not know about, and myself I thought was still not finalized in Canada yet, so it was a surprise to hear this.
Currently I am on an 200 day streak I think. I haven’t kept count anymore, because how you spend your days matter more than a number.
2 years ago I was depressed, had terrible social anxiety and was very unhappy with my life, only sitting inside on my PC. You can read everything back in my history. I was sad not having friends or a relationship.
Currently I have a few friends, with whom I sometimes go out. I go to festivals alone to socialize. I have had my first job, first kiss, went on a few dates, no longer a virgin, a girlfriend, I am more social, better self esteem, stopped therapy since I outgrew it (according to the professionals) and probably more that I can’t remember. A lot of good stuff has happened.

My friend and co-worker was invited to his close friend’s wedding and received a plus one. Since he had just broken up with his girlfriend, he didn’t want to go alone and be seen alone in photos on social media so he asked if I would go with him.
I love weddings and didn’t have plans for the weekend and always wanted to see this particular venue in person anyway as I always pictured it for myself so i said yes. The sun rises over a clear blue sky, marking the beginning of a beautiful Saturday morning. Six hours later, I wake up in my room with terrible breath and a bit of a headache. The images of last night are still fresh in my memory. My group of friends met this nice group of girls at the club, and one of my friends hit it off with one of the girls. Me, I did not even try, as usual. Always too shy. Too scared to face rejection and too insecure to picture any other outcome.
