I recently got married to the love of my life. It was one of the most grounding, meaningful experiences I’ve ever had. It gave me a deep sense that I’ve stepped into a new chapter of my life. Lately, though, there’s been this weight I can’t shake—and it’s not coming from me, it’s coming from someone I’ve known almost my whole life: my oldest friend
I got married recently, and what should have been one of the happiest days of my life ended up being clouded by something I still can’t quite believe happened. Right before the ceremony, I was in the backroom collecting myself—nerves, excitement, all of it. Out of nowhere, my mom burst in and started yelling at me about something completely inconsequential. I honestly don’t even remember what it was about—just that it made no sense for that moment and felt so out of left field. I was stunned and tried to de-escalate things as quickly as I could, but the whole experience threw me off.
Then, a couple days later, she tells my other family members that I yelled at her. That I was disrespectful on my wedding day. I was floored. Not only did she cause a scene and inject unnecessary drama into an already emotional day, but now she’s rewriting the story to make herself the victim.
I’m a 28-year-old man who’s recently committed to getting fit after years of unhealthy habits. My wife, 30, and I both fell into a sedentary lifestyle during our six years together. But five months ago, I decided to turn things around. I’ve dropped my body fat from 30% to 19% and set a goal of reaching 10%.
I’ve also taken up long-distance running. I started at 5 miles, then 10, and now 15. I’m aiming for 20 miles soon. But whenever I share these goals with my wife, she brushes them off as “unrealistic.” She’s never acknowledged my progress or offered encouragement. In fact, I feel like she’s been dismissive of the changes I’m proud of.
A few years ago, my wife (30F) and I (31M) — married for ten years — bought a new house together. We sold our old home, used the equity to wipe out some lingering debts, and worked hard to rebuild our savings so we could afford the new place. At first, we were really disciplined. We tracked every dollar, stuck to the budget, and felt proud of how we were handling things.
I’m 16 years old and have saved up $20,000 in my bank account. Now, my parents are asking to “borrow” the entire amount so they can buy my older sister a car. They say they’ll pay me back with interest.
But I’m uncomfortable with the idea of draining my account. I was planning to use this money for my own college expenses. Should I agree to lend them the money?

My partner is in a college/work training program and has been struggling a lot. Recently, he was referred to student support to assess for possible learning or mental disabilities. As part of that process, he took an IQ test and scored 72.
I wasn’t completely surprised. He often struggles with basic tasks and lacks common sense. Still, he’s a kind person, and I’ve tried to see him through a compassionate lens—like maybe he just needed more time to learn. But now, knowing this number, it feels different. This isn’t just about immaturity anymore. I’m starting to realize I may always have to carry most of the mental and emotional load in our relationship.
My husband (37M) and I (36F) have been together for ten years, and lately, I’m scared I’ve caught “the ick.” We’ve been through a lot of change recently, and I feel like something inside me broke.
